Three students from St. Ignatius School’s graduating class of 2013 received the Posse Foundation’s four-year, full-tuition leadership scholarship to attend college.

Since its inception in 1989, the Posse Foundation has significantly impacted the lives of over 6,500 students across the nation. According to the Posse Foundation’s website, “Posse is one of the most comprehensive and renowned college access and youth leadership development programs in the United States.” Evidence of their success is evident in the 90% graduation rate of Posse Scholars at the various partner schools across the United States. Students enter their respective colleges with weeks of college training and a cohort of friends – their ‘Posse.’

This year, the New York offices saw over 3,000 highly qualified applicants. With just over 140 awarded scholarships, our graduates stood out among their peers and exhibited the leadership qualities the Posse Foundation seeks in their scholars.

Brittney, Sheryl and Angelique will attend Middlebury College, Franklin and Marshall College, and Lafayette College respectively. The students join Sara Benitez (SIS ’11, Middlebury College ’19) and Luis Paez (SIS ’05, DePauw University ’13) as St. Ignatius School alumni who have been awarded the Posse Scholarship.

Congratulations to Brittney, Sheryl and Angelique as they move forward in their next academic endeavors and continue to set the world on fire.
